About the Author
José Ma. Hernandez was born in the Philippines on June 19, 1904. He was educated in the United States, earning his Masters Degree at the University of Notre Dame (Indiana) and later earned his Ph.D at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, During World War II, Dr. Hernandez fought on Bataan Peninsula under General MacArthur. As a Major in the Philippine Army, he served from December, 1941 to April, 1942. After the Philippine liberation, he served as Assistant Press Secretary to Philippine President Manual Roxas. From 1967 to 1970 he was founder and Secretary-General of the World Anti-Communist League. Dr. Hernandez taught English, dramatics, languages, social arts and political science at several colleges and universities. His scholarly writing of several books won him praise from academicians as well as laymen. During the course of his life as an educator, as a critic, and above all a believer in the freedom of men, he authored several books on these themes.
