I'm a volunteer working with an adult English Language Learner. His English is actually pretty good but figuring out what Americans are saying is a bit of a challenge. In addition to the regular old ordinary vagaries of English, there is the issue of slang. For example, in our second session he asked for help figuring out phrases like "How's it going?" or "What's up?" which seem to bear no relation to "How are you?" This book is working very well for us.

I liked the content and use of this book. I thought some of the words were a little outdated but language changes daily, so it was expected. My students didn't enjoy this book as much as I did teaching it.

AFTER READING, GAVE IT TO A FRIEND THAT WAS TEACHING ENGLISH TO ADULT LATINOS. Learning any language ... Out in the real world∂ encountering slang is confusing.
