Amazing. I bought this as a gift for my husband as we are both huge Stephen King fans. He was completely surprised. It looks exactly the way I would have imagined it from the Dark Tower novels and follows that story perfectly.I really don't know why some people are saying it has nothing to do with Dark Tower. May be time for a re-read of the series if you don't remember this.
Who wouldn't love a children's book by Stephen King?!? It's great little stand alone story that fits perfectly with the one described in the Dark Tower series. While it's illustrations are a little on the troubling side, but not too obvious, it's still a good overall kids story. My 7 year old found it and wanted me to read it to him at bed time. I hesitantly agreed. He loved it and now it's one of his favorite bed time stories!
A Charlie by any other name... A great book that mimics the one in Wastelands in all but two ways. First: no 'buy war bonds' ad inside. Second: instead of "Sometimes the other engineers laughed at bob," It's now "The other engineers laughed at bob." Enough of a difference to tickle Calvin Tower I wot.
This children's book is just as creepy as it was in the Dark Tower series. Any fans of Mid-World need to own and read this book! The pictures are super creepy, and I would not recommend it for children- this one is for adults who want to read a book from before the world moved on.
If you're a tower fan you know what this is and already love it. Ignore the low star reviews because they obviously aren't hard core king or tower fans. Perfect! Exactly what I expected.Now if you've not read the tower you might be a tad confused about our friend Charlie and why it is a kids story and short ... and if that is you I say go forth and read the tower, and you will understand.
Naysayers...Grow a sense of humor. This is a fiction within a fiction and the novelty of it aligns perfectly with S.K.'s sense of humor, my cullies. It is for people who are intimately familiar with the term CONSTANT READER.....That Stephen King is a trig cove, so he is.....
Everything you’d expect, no needed, from this book. It couldn’t be better. But beware... this is a book for children from a time gone by. This book is not for children from any world that’s moved on.
Read the Gunslinger series from Stephen King and you will understand the nuances of this story. The illustrations have an opposite ironic text than the overly happy, sugary storyline. Just creepy enough to be brilliant, but I wouldn't buy this book for the kiddies unless you want to scare them to death! Buhahahaha!!!
